ANOTHER NEW NEG CON AD
flying home today I was able to take advantage of my flight’s onboard satellite tv… and what should appear… another negative CON ad. This one was not the one which I cought yesterday, but the one which was posted by Liberal 4 Life... and what network did it appear on???? TSN… during the pre game show for the canada game. I figure the ad aired around 6:15. I assumed this ad would be out eventually, if it was real. what I found shocking is that at the end of the ad and no where in the ad was there was an authorization from an official agent for the cons… i‘m not an expert on election law… but that doesn’t seem quite right? i could be mistakend ... maybe the small tv in the back of the airplane seat cut it off but im about 99.9% sure about this.
On another note... this ad is not on the conservative website, just like the last negative ad and i expect the more blogging that is done on the ad the sooner it will be up on their site.
anyhow … the past twenty four hours have been interesting… this site has received more hits then it has in the last four weeks. i would like to attempt to give the links to those who referenced my blog…. Cherniak on Politics, Red Tory and Andrew Coyne. if i have left you out please let me know and i will make sure i give you a link.

Just curious about how you concider this to be an atack ad? An attack is making comments like Harper will end medicare, the Ad is simply cramming as many Liberal party's scandals as possible in a 30 second spot.
Heh, I love how Connies are trying to play this off like this isn't an attack ad. It just shows me, for the billionth time, that they are so far out of touch with reality it is truly terrifying.

Now that's not entirely true, and you (should) know that.
The latest ad includes a huge Globe and Mail headline with damning testimony from Benoit Corbeil (there's even a picture of Corbeil giving the testimony right there!!!).
The problem with that? Well, here's what Judge Gomery actually SAID about Corbeil's testimony: “On the basis of the answers he gave during his testimony, and on the basis of the impressions I received at that time, I have come to the conclusion that Mr. Corbeil is a fundamentally untruthful witness and that nothing that he says is worthy of belief.”
To me this is an attack of the worst kind. Flashing up newspaper headlines of sensational testimony, and then conveniently ignoring the fact that the judge determined, and later published in his report, that the testimony was A LIE!!!
A lot of the most damning testimony from the Gomery inquiry came from people who were under indictment for fraud, and had little to no credibility. Some people lied to the judge. And the judge pointed out who they were. And the whole purpose of the report was for an independent judge to look at the evidence and determine who was lying, and who was telling the truth. Filling ads about your opponents with testimony that an independent judge found to not be credible, from a witness about whom the judge said that "nothing that he says is worthy of belief" is not only an attack, it's a DIRTY attack.
If you can't see that, that's your problem.
I continue to be astonished that we went to all of the trouble and expense of having an independent inquiry, and STILL the opposition doesn't care what the report actually says!!! Quoting false testimony and (alleged) perjury on blogs or even in speeches before the House is pretty disgusting. Building election ads around false testimony??? That goes way too far I think.
